Windsor’s Original Trail Run!

Step into the legacy of Windsor’s original trail run with the Royal Windsor Trail Run on Sunday 18th May 2025. First held in 2013, this renowned event has grown into a must-do for trail runners of all levels, offering a Half Marathon, 10km & 6km race. With a lively and inclusive atmosphere, the event welcomes seasoned runners and novices alike, attracting participants from all over the country.

The course showcases some of the most historic sites in the region, passing through Windsor, Boveney Lock, Bray, Dorney, Maidenhead, and Eton before concluding with the majestic Windsor Castle in view.

This run is not about battling rough, muddy terrain but is designed to be an enjoyable, fast-paced, and friendly challenge set against the scenic backdrop of one of England’s most iconic courses. Whether you’ve run these trails before or are visiting for the first time, this is a perfect chance to experience the beauty of Windsor & Eton.

Half Marathon Trail Run (approx. 13.5 miles / 21.73km*) – £35.00
10km Trail Run (approx. 9.80km*) – £25.00
6km Trail Run (approx. 6.05km*) – £20.00

Please note: This trail run route follows nature trails therefore distances are as accurate as can be, but has a 3% tolerance on 100% distance.

Location

The event village and finish line will be located in Alexandra Gardens:

Alexandra Gardens, Barry Avenue, Windsor, Berkshire, SL4 1QX

The start line is a short 500m walk over Eton Bridge on The Brocas.

Start Times

09:00am: Half Marathon Start (Rolling Start)
09:30am: 10km & 6km Start (Rolling Start)

The event will be a rolling start with participants heading off in small waves every few minutes. Our rolling start creates a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, limiting any participant congestion along the route. If you are looking to win your event then please make sure you are at the front of the first wave of runners that head off.

Facilities

  • Ample toilets to cater for those last minute nerves!
  • Competitor baggage area in main event village at £2.50 per bag.

  • Multiple drink stations to keep you hydrated throughout the event.
  • Lead cyclist for first wave group.
  • Onsite catering serving hot and cold food and beverages.

Restrictions

  • Half Marathon: Participants must be 17 years or older as of the day of the event.
  • 10km & 6km: Participants must be 15 years or older as of the day of the event.

  • Noise-cancelling earphones/headphones are prohibited and, whilst we discourage the use of other earphones/headphones, participants choosing to use them should ensure they are set to a low enough volume that instructions from event officials can be clearly understood.

  • This event is not suitable for buggies, pushchairs, strollers (or similar) due to the nature of the terrain.

There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Male & Female overall finishers for each event.
